Why is a Raccoon Butterflyfish - Chaetodon lunula not a reef safe fish?

what do they eat?

have you seen them do this?

how bad is it really?

DO NOT PLACE A RACCOON IN A REEF!!!!

I have a Raccoon in my 125, I tried to place some corals in-polyps, mushrooms -She tore all but 2 polyps off and ate them:( And ate one whole mushroom before I got out to get a tank to put my corals in.
What do they eat? Corals;)
If you have a fish only, they will eat everything once acclimated. I do love my Raccoon, she is my favorite fish, full of personality and eats right out of my hand. But I would NEVER attempt anymore corals in the same tank

On a good note, she is also great for eating aiptasia:)

I only tried a few corals once. I got the beginners pack from Liveaquaria.com
It ate all but 2 of the Yellow polyps and one whole Bullseye Mushroom..It picked at the Button polyp but it stayed closed. It also picked at the Hairy Mushroom but didn't do much damage. The Button Polyps are looking great in their new home as are the Hairy Mushrooms and one Bullseye Musroom...the 2 remaining yellow Polyps look like aiptasia now:lol:
I think my Raccoon would have picked at anything, she is constantly hungry .I always have algae strips in the tank but that did not stop her from eating the corals. She sat guard over them and chased away any fish that approached:rolleyes: I started a thread here before I got the corals to see what everyone thought...didn't get many responses so I don't think many people keep them in their reefs
