Radion g1 vs mars led

shane reef

New member
Probably been asked before so please for give the question. I am trying to decide between purchasing a set of 5 radion g1 or the mars led off of eBay. I am on a tight budget as most are but also what to make the best decision I can on light purchase. What are pros and cons of the two? What would be the better buy with both within 200 of each other? What's the longevity of them? Thanks in advance

The "Chinese Black Box" fixtures on ebay/amazon work great and last a long time..
The Radion will just have additional functionality (that most really don't need)

There are quite a few "Black Box" fixtures now with Wifi,etc... too..

Longevity is just fine.. They both should last a long time..

I thought the G1's are discontinued though now..

Don't forget to look at Reefbreeders line (photon,etc..)

Lots of options. For comparison, check out the Viparspectra LED's. They are comparable to the Mars Aqua but IMO having a built in timer and only one cord per unit is a huge advantage.

Also a good option. Seems the added cost gets you a ramping feature. Nice to look at, but does nothing for the fish or coral.

Was thinking of working them to work with apex and that would give more options for controlling the lights of desired

If using with an Apex then yes I recommend getting fixtures that have more control features that can be adjusted via a controller.

Radion g1 vs mars led

Radion 1 probably have some use on them by now so for the price get the Mars since it's at least new and never been fired up. Plus once lights are on there isn't much adjustment needed.
Unless those radions are brand new.
