radion led

I have 2 Gen 1 radions.... when I was growing SPS they grew like gangbusters on them esp after i got my calcium and alk under control! Much faster than my T5 on my biocube. Programming is easy and its set and forget, Unless you want to change the intensity every few weeks to get it up higher but most in Gen 1 Radions, don't go over 60-70% unless they have a super deep tank.

Switched back to 400wMH for a while, changed out tanks and now have the Prestige LED Gamma, LED/T5 integration. Sweet fixtures.

Lol, I did a similar thing. Had 3 x Radion Gen1, had decent results and good growth. Sold them after I worked out I would need 7 to cover my tank.

I'm currently running 400w MH + T5's and intend returning to LED' at a later date.

I bought two from a guy on here and have yet to get em in for 3 months now :( waiting on a quote for a new canopy so they will fit. Still need to buy a third as well.

skareff which do u like better Radion or Prestige led
First I would say that this is a loaded question..With the expectation of getting shot..:lmao: Like is based on a personal perception. With that said, I have done what everyone has or thought about doing, I have bought many different types of LED's, the so called market leaders, the Chinese ones, etc, etc etc. As for my Radions, my kids loved them, they liked the thunderstorm type bells and whistles but for me, it seemed to be a bell to distract from the real reason I buy lighting, for the health and well being of my corals. With the Radions my corals survived, but I would not say that they thrived and to me that is the true goal, it easy to keep a coral alive but.... It was over a 8 month period that my growth and just the "overall look of my corals" ( reefers, you know what I mean) did not meet up with the MH I have used for years, (and yes I understand what an LED acclimation period is, for those that may feel the need to chime in). Dont get me wrong, I liked the Radions and am positive that they work well for many people, just not me.
Once I stumble on the Prestige LED (a while ago) I was excited for the T-5 integration and went thru the research process again. At first I didn't believe the marketing hype and par/pur numbers it was touting as so many do. Had to try it for myself. Needless to say, I was shocked to see the full spectrum of light I can get from these units, as well as the numbers that it puts out. And yes to me my corals are now thriving without the MH. So for now, back to your question after a long story...

I will be keeping my Gammas and purchasing more for my other tanks. I hope that answers your question without offending the masses.

+1 to skareef. I "liked" my radion but did not love it as I felt it was lacking. Added 2 T5 ATI bulbs and loved the results. The prestige sounds really good from the standpoint that these two styles are integrated but right now I'm happy with MH for the time being.

thanks Shareff for the info...... I have a 150gallons 48x24x30 I have two radion 1 my coral is doing ok. u think if I add a aquaticlife 48'' t5 would is help or be tooo much light?

I guess that would depend on the type of corals you have and how you acclimate them. I am a an old school believer, by that I mean if you acclimate accordingly and have proper coral placement in your tank, then I am not sure you could put "tooo much light"? over your tank and make it fit. I am trying to figure out how your going to fit the 48" t-5 and Radions. Pics are always welcome.

Just an opinion, Everyone is different.

I almost whet the Radion route, but did not believe they would give me what I needed for a 38" deep tank. I decided on building my own and I'm very glad I did as I feel I get the par and spectrum me and my corals need.
Though I have been kicking around the idea of adding a few T-5's to my fixture and probably will since I've been hearing nothing but good in regards to the LED/T-5 mix.

Besides, the thunderstorm setting on the Radions reminds me of a electrical short...:)
