Radion mounting options help needed!

Hello All,

I am thinking about taking the plunge into the led world. I am currently toying with getting 2 Radion XR15 Pros for my 90g reef. I don't have sps and I don't plan on keeping any in the near future, and so based on that and the information provided by Ecotech on their website I think I will be good with these as long as I use the 120 degree lenses. I was also thinking to maybe use one xr15 pro and one xr30, but not sure if that would look "off" or bad by having 2 different sized lights on the tank. Any thoughts for this part of my question?

My other question has to do with the mounting options that are available. I have a eurobraced tank, so the RMS arm will not work. I also can't hang anything from the ceiling. Which leaves only the multi-light RMS. With my calculations, that system would cost $225 ($125 for the arms, $60 for the track/trail, and $40 for the 2 slides, 1 for each light.) Are there any alternatives that anyone here has used or seen? Like I said - can't be hung from the ceiling and I would prefer not having to makes hoes in walls in order to hang/mount these lights. I don't have canopy either. Any suggestions regarding one or both topics would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

The RMS arm has a piece on the clamp that allows it to be used on a eurobraced tank, it is able to be removed for a rimless tank.

Get some t-slot aluminum rods cut and bolt them together. You can make anything with those things and they look as they were designed for the light mount depending on how you lay it out. You can do this for under $50 Google search your area for t-slot framing.

Thanks!
Shanet - The piece you are talking about, I think I figured it out! But, that piece should be removed for eurobraced, not for rimless, right? If it is kept on, there isn't enough room for the clamp to fit over the internal lip part.

Also, any thoughts on using 1 xr15 and 1 xr30 or should I go with 2 xr15s?

Thanks again!

The other way around. The clamp has a slot in it that slides over and under the brace. You didn't mention the size of your tank, the XR 15 PRO is supposed to cover 24" x 24". It's up to you as to whether you use 2 x 15 or 1 of each, the 30 is supposed to have more punch, I only have 2 x 15 so I can't comment about the 30.

There are alot of different ways to hang Radions. Some are pretty inexpensive.
You should look in the EcoTech sponsors forum here on Reef Central.

IMO go with 2 of the XR30's.
Going with a XR15 and a XR30 isn't the best idea.
