Radion Pro Bleaching Coral

I just setup a new tank a few months ago with Radion Pro LED lights and have struggled with how different they are than metal halides. I started my lights at 75% and saw a ton of bleaching. I dropped them down to 50% and it has slowed the bleaching but I am still getting some. Most recent bleaching has been on SPS. LPS is coming back a bit. Can anyone give me some advice here on how to fine tune these lights?

Corals - SPS, LPS, Haddoni carpet

75 gallon tank, 20 gallon sump, 1.028 salinity, 10 Dkh alkalinity, 400 ppm calcium, nitrate/nitrite not detectable, temp @ 80 degrees

2 Radion Pros, Blueline 55HD, SRO 2000int skimmer, Coralife UV sterilizer, Arctica chiller, Vortec MP40.

i don't have the pro i have the gen 1 and i use 18k at 40% led lighting is a lot brighter then you would think. you might want to try 35%

In the top infographic are those the PAR#'s at 100% at that spectrum?

I dropped them down to 35%. I will see how this does. I cannot believe how powerful these LED's are. Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, give it 3 weeks and don't alter your schedule. Keep the parameters stable and see how everything rebounds. Too many people are constantly tweaking everything and corals hate it.

You could also try enabling acclimation mode to allow your corals a chance to adjust to the new lighting.

I know this thread is a couple months old now, but... .As a person researching lighting for his new 75gallon, would ONE of these units perhaps mounted higher than the Ecotech recommended 7" provide adequate coverage for LPS/SPS? It seems like two of them for a 75 may be overkill. Perhaps for 90 gallon and some strategic placement, 2 would be preferred, but for the shallower depth of the 75, I'm thinking a single unit would suffice at 80-100% output. Do they have wider optics for these?

I would recommend using 2 Radions for an aquarium your size, and mounting the Radions a minimum of 8 inches off the surface of the water. If trying to grow both LPS/SPS in the aquarium, your intensity will most likely be between 50-75%.

I see your salinity is a tad bit hi, you may want to bring it down if you have not already done so

So I have built a new canopy and moved my lights about 10 in. off of the water. Already a huge improvement after 1 week. Less algea, intensity at 50% with no issues. No more dark zones. Fish look happy.

These Radions have to be off the water a good 8 inches plus to work properly.

I think if any less than 2 radions were used on this tank size there would be too many shadows.

Yeah they are awesome lights. I'm running 2-Gen2 2-Pros 17" above the water Which puts my highest corals a minimum of about 20" from the lights. I'm running the "Radiant Color" template that I modified some. Max intensity atm is 75% from around 11:45 am -1:50pm
All my corals Acans, SPS, LPS, Frogspawn, Zoas, Torch, Monti's & maximus clam look great!!!
Lots of very pretty corraline taking hold all over.
There's not a lot of coral growth. But I'm not concerned when you take into consideration the short period of time (2 months) and distance above the water.
Now that my tank is pretty much fully stocked I'm going to start experimenting with moving them closer and increasing the photo period.
I believe the key thing with these lights is to make change very slowly!!

sorry to revive old thread, asking the same questions, Starting at 50% for a while just to see. only have zoas,frogspawn, palythoas, and xenia all on the bottom of the tank.

With those corals and depending on how deep the tank is, I would go slow.
Using the acclimation program for 3-4 weeks, I would drop it to 40%-45%., to a max of 65%.
