Radion with Egg Crating.... Thoughts?

Hey guys. Curious what your thoughts were with having a piece of Egg Crating over top of tank as far as light penetration? I have 2 active Clown and have top on for their protection. Coral wise does EC cut down on light that much?

Don't do it. There is a reason these are originally sold as light diffusers.

You can buy a diy frame and screen material at home Depot or Lowes and make your own.

Tanks looks like a small bio cube 14 gallon?
Artfully Acrylic makes screen lids.

BRS has a DIY screen top kit, that's what I have. I think it's cheaper to get the supplies yourself at home depot or Lowes though like D_Nyholm said.

Originally used eggcrate and it had a really bad disco ball effect with my led setup until I switched

It will be just fine on a tank that size especially with that light. Eggcrate reduces the amount of light reaching the tank by about 2-4%. You can push plenty of extra photons to the tank with that setup to make up for the reduction in intensity. Also that's a nice setup you got there! Happy reefing
