Radion xr15 pro or ATI ?

Hey guys, trying to decide on which light to use. I got a nuvo 38 currently run on a 120w led from eBay. I personally like led due to the energy saving part however, I also love the growth and color which t5 brings to my old 75gallon.

I have a lot of sps in the tank right now. so I am hoping some of you can share your experience on these lights. I have never used them before. The t5 I had was a Hamilton fixture. I am looking into the redoing xr15 pro and ati. What are some pros and cons???

Thank you so much for helping me.:-)

I can say the pro is robust, easy to manage---I run mine from my laptop with just the USB connection---you don't have to adjust often. Came back from a power-out and it knew the time and where it was and what to do. Lengthy power-out, so I told it to 'acclimate' down to 25% and come up gradually over days and the whole process was futz-free. Love this light. You do need to keep it the recommended height from the water. I run mine with glass between water and unit, and it has no trouble. LPS corals are quite happy.

Thanks for the input sk8r

What do you say about the radion on supporting the growth with sps? Color of the coral?
Since the tank is full of sps, I also like to know what was your experience with the fixture on sps. Thank you again.:-)

I've just switched from XR15W Pro to 6x24w dimmable ATI Sunpower.

First off I want to share my experience with Radion. Radion has offered me the best control and best results as far as Led goes IME when comparing to other Led system I had (AI/Kessil/120W full spectrum/DIY). Colour of the light virtually looks good to my eyes at all spectrum throughout the day (13~20K in my program). However I was hoping for SPS frags to colour up but all they did was just hold on to their colour, not better or worse, just the same colour and growing steadily. I've tested different graphs and gotten mixed results, but I still can't get all the SPS to improve their colour. That was real fun (frustrating) playing with graphs. ;-)

I have had ATI for 8 days and it has made incredible changes to ALL the SPS already. They are growing much faster under ATI and slowly improving overall colouration. I have some Zoas and LPS on the bottom and they look better too. It is still early to judge but I know I'm on the right track. I hang ATI higher than Radion (10.5 vs 9 inch), set channel 1 @ 100% and channel 2 @ 60% with 1 hour ramping. Bulb combo I'm using now is: ATI Blue Plus -- KZ Super Blue -- ATI Coral Plus -- KZ Fuji Purple -- KZ Super Blue -- Giesemann Pure Actinic.

Just my $0.02

Thanks UG.mac

Since I have a small tank, how much heat dose the ATI creats? I know they have fans on the unit itself, but do I need to run a chiller? Thank you and merry Christmas guys!!:-)

Been doing research on this and like the growth t5 give on SPS and coloration. I decided to get the ati sunpower fixture. Trying to figure a way to add the shimmer effect. I currently have a bio cube 29 but upgrading to a 100 gallon SPS dominate tank. I like the fact that you can also change the bulbs to different colors and textures for a new look every year.

I like number 5 and 6 combinations. Will probably go more for the five combination. If you get the 8 bulbs you can later fit a current USA marine orbit led in the middle and have a hybrid setup.

Thanks reefer Fred

Same here I think 5 and 6 looked really good. Was looking to get the 6 bulbs fixture.

Notice there 2 choices as 1st none dimmable and dimmable. What are the benefits of the dimmable fixture vs none dimmable fixture?

You are welcome.
I do run a chiller but that's because I have floor heating and I don't have isolation under the sump so my tank can get pretty warm in winter than summer. However chiller doesn't turn on more often after the switch. Fixture height above water level also play a big part of that.

Dimmable allows sunrise and sunset which is for your own pleasure. Lol. Fish and coral doesn't care. I choice dimmable also because it can run reduced intensity so I don't just bleach the SPS from too much light. I don't want to have to adjust photoperiod and/or hanging height to accomplish that.

Thank you that is very helpful. I think I am gonna get the 6 bulb fixture. As far as bulbs. Dose it come over a standard color combination? Do I get to choose what bulb I want or
Do I have to purchase them saparetly?

No ATI fixtures doesn't come with bulbs, so you have the flexibility to make your own combo. I would suggest to get a couple of extra blue and white bulb so you can play with the colour you want.

I placed an order today online for a 6 bulbs fixture plus a combo bulb. 2 blue plus, 1 purple plus, and 5 others. Wanted to get more choice since they are on sale. I will post some photos once it arrives. still got a lot of question to ask. :-) Thank you so much for all the inputs.

time for updates. I received the light about 3 week ago and since the new fixture on the tank, my coral color are starting to come back. thanks for the input guys.

Thought I would share a pic of my frag tank as of today. I loved the result of the fixture.
The bird nest coral had exploded and other frags also very happy.
