Radions?

There are hundreds if not thousands of people using Radions for SPS in the world.

I am one of them.

I know they work. I have seen them on local tanks. I am even considering trying one over my frag tank. BUT, As usual there is a major lack of quality pics in threads like this.

^what kind of pics are you looking for?

Pics that capture the vibrance of the light. No offense fishmanstan but your pics are so so. That could be VHO lighting and we wouldn't know the difference. You know the high quality pics that some guys post on here. I never see them on LED threads.

I am taking from my evo, so Ik its bad quality. I think people may not take many Radion pics is because LEDs+camera does not capture color well unless you have a expensive camera.

Id like to see a totm exclusively with leds. Im not saying they dont or cant work, but i havent seen a full blown sps driven with leds long term. The words good and nice are relative. Id love to see the leds relative to halides or t5s type totm. So far the best sps tanks that ive personally seen to date are either t5 or halides. The best lps and soft type tanks has been leds.

Reefs, I HIGHLY suggest looking at Vivid Aquariums tank then. They have radions on one side and 400w halides on the other and growth is equal.

Although, LEDs haven't been out long enough, with enough power for "I've been running LEDs for 5 years with great success" stories. Also, I know a lot of new reefers are getting led, and we/they don't have the experience of some older reefers.

Vivid is a retailer for ecotech. They are not going to give you a non biased opinion. People who work there have even said the growth and color is a little better on the mh side. That's beside the point though because people here want to see a tank grown exclusive on radions not a mature tank already grown and established on metal halides.

Me personally have seen some very exceptional led tanks. I wouldn't say the radion are the best option though.

thx, i've alread seen this video. I actually saw the tank when it was all MH and it was awesome. Personally, i think it doesn't look as nice now. I didn't see it with led in person so thats not quite a fair comparison. I actually tried LEDs myself and from my experience i'll say that some of the sps (mostly green and blue acros)actually do ok, however most sps grow but don't look quite "natural" and thus my concerns. Now it could be that i'm new to led and havent unlock the secret to be successful and so i'm in persuit to seeing great leds and in the learning process. i was pretty successful keeping sps using MH and not so successful with leds.

I have four Radions over my 210 and SPS LOVE them. Whenever I read about about people with LEDs switching to MH I just don't get it. My corals grow rapidly and the colors are amazing! Also, how convenient is it to be able to change light spectrum without having to change bulbs like you would have to do with halides.
I love my Radions. Echotech did a great job.

On another web site, nanodashreefdotcom, there was a nano of the month july 2012, that showed progression shot of his tank. He was initally using AI leds on a sps tank, then switched to radion and then switched to MH lighting. I viewed all the progression pics and tried to guess when the switch to MH happen by looking at the corals. There were quite a few pics and i guessed exactly when the switch occured based on growth pattern and color. Now call me lucky or crazy, but the tank actually looked way better after the switch.

Hope i can do this but see for yourself

Would you mind posting a few progression pics? Thx

Just use white balance on any camera the the colors of the tank will look normal
