Will the xm20k run blue enough on the cv ballast with out actinics? Thanks

My friend runs the 250w on the ARO e ballasts and they look very blue. I dont know about the CV Ballasts. I had them on the Icecap and they were blue as well. Very blue.

I've heard it could take up to a month for them to burn in and turn really blue. Also, the Sunpods have Sunpark electronic ballasts in them (the 150w version at least).

I have the SE Versions, I have had them over a month now, and still no change in color.

That is correct, the 250 watt versions have an external mag ballast.

What about them firing on standard coralvue electronic ballasts - not dimmable - the 250 watt version?

the nipple must be pointing up to get maximum life out of the bulb (read this from bulb installation instructions). make sure your ballast has been off at least 10 minutes before you turn it on again.

I know how it feels to pay big bucks on an expensive bulb only to see it is not blue. I have tested phoenix, xm, ushio, iwasaki and geissmann on both magnetic and electronic ballast and none of them are as blue as I expected. I agree it may be the type/brand of ballast that determines the color. so best is to get the exact setup as someone who gets the right blue color. it seems to be hit or miss and the only guaranteed way you are going to get blue is to use actinics.

I have observed that although my light looks whitish up close , it does look more blue from a distance. also, when I take a picture (raw mode with no color balance adjustment), it does come out bluer than looking at it in person.

i have been using the 2 150 watt on my current outer orbit pro. and its been two weeks and the color is very similar to the phoenix 14k that i just took off. i was expecting more blue as well... I have read that 20k radiums have the highest par.. is it because they dont really show that much blue?
