Mine was first acquired all browned out. I first put it right on the sand bed and it remained brown until I relocated it to about 6 inches below the surface and close beneath the bulb (250W 10000K BLV). It then rapidly colored up. In about a month's time, it returned nicely

a lfs in my area always tells me its comming in on there next shipment ( soem bali maricultured coral) but it never shows up.

Yup, it takes a little time to color up. When I got mine, it was browned out and there was only a small piece of an edge that had any blue color to it. Here is a picture of it now showing the bright colors of the polyps against the blue base:
