Raise water level with osmolator in filter 3163

So I added a 3155 osmolator to my 3163 filter and now the water stays so low that the filter is getting air in the motor (even without filter media!) and putting air bubbles all throughout the tank because the water barely flows past the grill. I even have the top of the filter open and still the water is high enough to allow water in fast enough.

I love the filter, love the osmolator but wish there was a way to raise the osmolator eye to keep water level higher. I bought the 3155 osmolator to work with the filter after reading the filter instructions that recommend putting the eye sensor in the filter hoping to keep less objects visible in my tank.

Is there a way to raise the water level with my situation? Ill post some pics..

Water level has been consistent for the month + that ive had the ato, but ive had to tie the grill open on the filter so it gets enough water. Barely enough water- it occasionally spits out a bunch of air bubbles
