Raising Mag for Bryopsis

I've read that raising the mag the 1600 or even 1700 might work to get rid of the bryopsis that is in my tank. I'm already running carbon and GFO and all algae died except this pesky stuff. My salifert test only goes up to 1500. Any guide on how to test above that level?

I have started to win the battle against this algea with a paste made of reef advantage calcium that I use on erradicating aptasia. Just mix a thick solution and spread on bryopsis and it kills it....:headwalls:

wow, reef advantage calcium paste kills bropsis? does this raise your calcium levels noticeably? could you elaborate a little bit & explain the process of how much you mix with what to make the paste please? as far as the mag treatment goes, it is my understanding & experience that it must be kent tech-m magnesium to work, something about other properties in the solution that does the job. also expect some browning out of some corals, altho after treatment they re-color up in a few weeks.

Raising Mg with Kent Tech M specifically is what works, not just raising Mg. It's believed to be a byproduct of the supplement and not the Mg itself that kills the bryopsis. You want to dose the product a bit daily (maybe 20 - 50 ppm) and the daily dose of this byproduct is what will wipe out your bryopsis while also raising your Mg.

Worked perfectly for me, but there are always some tanks that it doesn't work on.
