Raising my salinity

I bought a new hana salinity to find out I'm at 1.022sg and not 25. 90 gal with 20 gal sump..if I do a 10% water change can I raise it to 1.025 or should I go more gradually? If so how much salinity should I go with in my 5 gallon buckets for the water change?
Thx all

Might be better to top off with saltwater for a few days until you get to where you need to be

So just put 1.025 in my top off water?

That will work, you could do less as long as it's salty. Just keep an eye on it so you don't go to high.

Pure water evaporates making your salinity go up and usually it's replaced with rodi to bring it back down. If you use saltwater in your top off it will go up slowly since you're replacing fresh with salt

Raising my salinity

I do the same to raise salinity, add SW to my ATO. You just need to calculate how much salt you want to add to raise salinity by your required amount. For example 2 weeks ago I decided I wanted to raise the salinity of my tank by 0.5 ppt. My tank + sump volume is 244 litres and I use Aquaforest Reef salt. That requires 3,750g of salt to mix 100 litres to 33 ppt.

The equation is (rated salt amount) / (rated ppt) * (desired ppt change) / (rated volume) * (tank volume). Therefore I need 3,750/33*0.5/100*244 = 138g of salt to raise my tank by 0.5 ppt.

If you decide to raise your salinity gradually, through water changes, there is a very handy resulting salinity calculator on hamzasreef.com
Just take a moment to make sure you think it through and enter the correct values
