raising ph with exterior air pump

My ph is running low, I think because of the closed-up house, so I added an air pump outside a window, running the tubing into the sump. It has come up from around 7.8 to about 8.18 over the last 24 hrs. Don't know if it will continue to come up or not.

I am currently running without an airstone, just letting the tube bubble away. So here is a stupid question... Would adding an airstone help to raise the ph further? My guess is it would not have any effect. Thanks.

The airstone may help drive the CO2 out of the water more effectively, yes. It is hard to know for sure unless you try.

you might try dosing with kalk.I found its an easy way to keep ph levels higher.I always had a low ph.7.98 maximum 8.1 since I have been adding kalk I am in the 8.2 range 8.3 maximum.Its the only thing that works for me because I don't have enough fresh air in my tank room.
