RAPID LED? new par 38?

Not sure if it applys to the LEDs you're talking about but don't plug in the driver without having less than 3 LEDs wired in series. I'm going through issues with their CREE LEDs because the Engineer in me decided to test everything when I got it and I may have fried stuff. Just an FYI.

nanotuners PAR38 runs at 21w's evil gave me a break down of the currents the leds were being run at but i can't seem to find that breakdown at the moment

Each led is a 3w Cree led and IMO the testing that has been done on the PAR38 from nanotuners is superior to any of these other PAR30/38 knockoffs

here are some PAR38 nanotuners PAR Numbers

these are PAR numbers of the 12k bulbs with 40 optics

this is on my 200g DD, more info can be found in the large tank forum

ya thanx beeker ive checked out your posts and ur tank is amazing! I am currently runing evils 20k 80 degree par 38 on my reef and i love it i was jus thinkin if the 3 extra leds on rapid leds par38 would make a difference in lighting plus its on sale right now for 95 with shipping?? I do luv evilspar 38 its workin great on my corals in my 40 g breeder:bounce3::bounce3::bounce3::bounce3::bounce3::bounce3::bounce3:

the Rapid led would probably give you more coverage but it's PAR output might not be near as good as Evil's PAR38...

So it might work or it might not you'd need a PAR meter and the bulb to really tell that out, but if you are looking for color fill then i'm sure they'd workout perfectly

if your tank is less than 18 inches tall honestly it should atleast be good for LPS and maybe some SPS, hopefully they are relly running those LEDs close to 3w's to get the PAR needed

Rapid LED claims 14W draw for the 7 LED unit which is under 2 watts per led after driver loss, somewhere in the range of 500mw of constant current per led. The Evilc66 is a 5 led bulb that drives the Cree's close to there maximum 1000mw rating. Quick math shows the Evil par38 puts out around 15-20% more lumen, but the Rapid LED uses 33% less power. Its kind of a toss up, The Evil puts out more light but is less efficient and costs a bit more than the Rapid led.
