Rapid LED's mounted up

Hey everybody, previously posted (ages ago) about a 180g build I was attempting to start, have slowly but surely made some progress.

Have the 3x Rapid Led's mounted up and hooked up via Bluefish controller, have to mess around with the controller because I have no idea how to work it and set up the channels etc.. so if anybody knows anything about the bluefish I'll take any advice!

Figured I'd share it with everybody!

Bluefish is easy to use. Just fine tune it to your liking. The only thing I don't like is all the extra "coming soon" features that don't work or you don't need. The webcam feature is awesome just add an IP camera.

Looks good! Can you tell me how high the lights are above the water line and what optic you have on the led's ?

I have the 90*, and the lights are about 3 inches from waterline, The canopy is a shallow mount so that is the reason for the lack of height off water.
I wish I could mount them higher but I have no room to work with unless I cut out the canopy and had the fixture sticking through the top (which would defeat the clean look of having a canopy in my opinion)

there is about 1.5" of space between top of fixture where the fan is and the canopy. I was thinking of adding a fan behind the canopy due to it being open to help ventilate the space.

Nice! What are your stocking plans?

I plan on transfering my 72 livestock over which includes clown, 3 barletts anthias, 4 damsels and a blue chromis.

Would love to get a pair of tangs, possible goby/jawfish, and then some other school type fish.

It seems easy but I'm having issues figuring it out. I can't get any colors other then blue to work when hooked up to the controller, but all colors work when they are not hooked up to controller and just powered up which leads me to believe I have something with the wiring incorrect. I have contacted Rapid LED and they are helping me figure out what I did wrong LOL, they have been very helpful with everything!

Please update the thread if you do need to add cooling fans, I'm looking at the same fixtures for my 210, Only difference is I have a bit more space in my canopy.
Thanks for posting.

Have you considered removing your canopy altogether and just hang the LEDs instead? It can be hung from the ceiling or you could even make a hanger out of 1/2 conduit. I think that would look cleaner.

I love all that blue, your corals will GLOW!

I can't wait :eek1:

I will spend a few days in the near future learning the lighting cycles and have the lights running to see how they do with temperature, so far they seem to be breathing just find

I wanted to hang them at first but I live in a small condo with an open floor plan for the kitchen/dining/living(where the tank is) and did not want to have basically the entire front portion glowing, especially if I am watching TV or whatnot. I have always liked the clean look that the canopy provides so for now it's perfect

I have the same lights and tank. Mounted that close to the canopy top provides plenty of spread to grow anything you want, anywhere in the tank at around 60% power.

I cut the hanging kits and crimped the cables tight on the unit then put them on circle hooks and twisted the hooks so the lights are just millimeters from the top of the wood. Over a year on the lights no heat issues and I don't think I've ever heard the fans turn on. I do have 2 $10 fans from Walmart on the back blowing in to reduce tank temp.

Nice clean install!
