I recently got back into this after a 2 year break since moving back to CA. I wanted something bigger than my last 125 gal and the Red Sea fit the bill. I had the perfect niche in the new house where this beast would fit.
After the basics for the new house were taken care of and finances settled down, the boss and I decided it was time to get back into it. The tank was ordered just before Christmas and showed up after New Years.
This tank was what I had dreamed of for years. I especially loved the white epoxy finish.
I messed around with different ends for the return but in the end I just went with a splitter and some short loc-line segments.
As far as components, I ordered:
Apex 2016 controller w/ modules
Apex flow meter
SDC 9 SICCE pump
ASM G2 skimmer
Eshopps doser and slave doser
2- Ecotech Mp40 QWD
Amazon Fire tablet 8
2- Ebo Jager 300 w heaters
Kessil A80 light for sump
4- media cups for sump
There were a few other odds and ends.
I also revamped my old water mixing station and made it better.
The sump on this thing is a gem.
I'm going with the cups instead of socks for now and seeing how they work out. I cut some foam filters to fit snugly in the cups and see how they perform.
The control board was put together and some door switches and lights installed.
And 190 lbs of rock, 180 lbs of sand and roughly 180 gallons of water were used to make the current scape.
Dr. Tim's bacteria was added and a 20 lb bag of live sand. It currently has 2 chromis and some 6 more getting added this weekend.
