Rasta zoas not opening

So I bought a rasta polyp 4 or 5 days ago and I was just wondering why it has yet to open. Is the light too strong maybe? Anyways I would like to know because I want it to survive and I was looking at some red hornets at my lfs.

O boy, there could be many reasons. What are your water params? Did you try moving your zoas. Move em into more or less flow. How are your other corals doing? Are these guys the only ones that are not opening up? Did you dip your zoas?

I would recommend searching the forum first as you are very likely going to find your answer there. Good luck!

My water perameters are fine and I have two other mushrooms and a bubble tip anemone that are doing good. They are the only ones not opening and I did not dip them. Thanks.

my rasta frag is very sensitive.. i pretty much thought mine was dead.. didnt open for like a week.. its open again.. ive pretty much given up on it.. grows so slow compared to other zoa i have.

Many times when you buy a coral, Zoas, etc, they will remain closed for a period of time to get acclimated to light and other variables. It is not something to be concerned about as of yet. Keep eye Out and make changes if the behavior continues.

Wow! Water changes helped huh? That's great. I have 3 small colonies (if I can even call them that. One with 3 heads, another with 3 heads plus a new baby one, and the third with 6 heads. The one with only 3 heads I purchased first and with in weeks of putting it in my tank they all were stretched up maybe a little more than an inch. And never multiplied. Months later I purchased the other 2, they seem to be happier and open up tightly against the rock which they are glued to. Have had them for only about a month, and like I said one has already popped out a new baby head. Why are the first 3 still stretched up. They all are pretty temperamental, and sometimes opens up more or less than other times but for the most part they all open up regularly. Any advice or suggestions?
