Does anyone have the average growth chart on zonathids and palythoas. I know that z/p varies on the person tank but I had a list once but I cant remember what I did with it
if your levels are right you should be able to grow 5 or 6 new heads a month on a small frag of cheap zoa's , say 5 heads to start . by cheap zo i mean pink or green zoanthus sp. some of the nicer ones do grow much slower in my experience .. maybe because theyre so darn nice looking ??? i hope someone chimes in with a vat of scientific know - how ....
i agree, this is something that will be different in every tank. Plus the amount of factors you need to think about makes it a waste of time. Everybody will have different results and large colonies tend to grow faster than frags ect.....
Long story short, you want coral that will have the best chance of growing fast then get aquacultured coral and make your tank as consistent as possible.
i would also like to add, corals seem to grow much faster in tanks over a year old from my experience
i dont always find this to be true, many top dollar frags can grow just as fast as anything else.
I think the what matters more is how well acclimated your coral is. If you have an aquacultured coral that is used to a tank environment that will tend to help. But a lot of coral come out of the ocean and the question is what was it used to there and how long will it take to acclimate to your tank, if ever.
this is a subject that can vary so mutch from tank to tank.if you are looking to get more growth from your corals i would say try different things and see what works best for you
