Rattling Noises

I have (2) 6100's that are both making very loud rattling/buzzing noises while running. The sound is coming from the motor; I have hand-held them while running to verify it was not from the magnet mount or other hardware. They appear to pump plenty of water, I have let them run for a few days to see if the rattles would go away but no such luck.

I also have (2) 6000's, one of which is almost totally inaudible, the other has a very slight buzz while running. I have switched the transformers up and the quiet pumps stay quiet with the 6100 transformers while the noisy pumps stay noisy with the 6000 transformers.

All pumps are brand new, just unboxed this week after sitting in the closet for a year. I pulled the impeller/shaft out and didn't see any obvious problem. So what is my next move?

Giving this one a bump for some help.

I tinkered some more with the pumps and switched the impellers between the noisy and quiet units. Still no luck. The noise is very noticeable and irritating; I don't think I can use these pumps unless this can be fixed.

So the pump making noise even when you hand held the pump? How long has the pump been running? Some pump need a week or two to break in.

Pumps have been running about a week before I originally posted, so late December. One of them is slightly quieter, but still noisy. The other is really noisy. Hand-holding them does not make much, if any, difference.

As I mentioned I have 4 of 6000/6100 pumps. Two of them are practically inaudible, even with everything else off. Because of that I have to think there is some issue with the noisy pumps. I have swapped around the transformers and impellers, no change. I have not swapped drivers but I doubt this is an issue with the electronics.

To put this into a meaningful perspective, either of these pumps are louder than a friend's Vortec's.

Jacob, send Roger a PM tomorrow and ask for his opinion. You may have to send the pump in so they can take a look at.
