RAW to JPEG help + lens filter question

After I edit a RAW image and covert it into a TIFF or JPEG the image is not as rich/vibrant as it was in the RAW editor (Lightroom or Photoshop or ACDSee).

What setting can I use to best replicate the image as it appears in the RAW editor (rgb1998, etc)?

Also, should I put some sort of filter on my tamron 90mm lens? What filter would improve the color accuracy of my aquarium photos and general macro photography?

I rarely use any filters, but occasionally I use a circular polarizer for top down coral shots.

anyways.. when you're in LR and you're viewing the RAW files, make sure you have the preset setting to "AS SHOT". You can also toggle this option during import. Try this and do an export, let me know what happens.

Also if your camera is set to use AdobeRGB, but you export as sRGB, that could also make your final JPG different from what you see in LR. When you export your JPG, make sure you set it using the proper color space. In addition, make sure your monitor profile is also correct.

By the way, this is for LR, not PS.

I imported RAW image, white balance is set to "AS SHOT". I have tried exporting using sRGB and Adobe RGB and I still get dull images that look nothing the one in LR.

How do I know what color space my nikon d40 is set to? Also, how do I know if my monitor profile is not correct?

Any suggestions? I still can not get my LR edited RAW image to look anything like the finalized exported JPEG. It is always a bit more dull, less vibrant, etc. It almost looks as if it is just giving me the original raw image only in jpeg form!
