RBTA Bubble mystery

I know there have been a few discussions of BTAs and their ability to keep bubbles in their tips and if its caused by flow, lighting, food or etc.

Here are two BTAs that are from the same colony. The one in the front is the clone from the one in the back. As you can see one has lost its tips and is bubble-less while the other is 1/2 and 1/2 with bubbles. They get fed the same and the one in the back is usually out more in the light like the other so they are very close in lighting placement. They also get fed the same and with the same general flow in that area. The both also have their foot about 10" back in under the rocks and have stretched out this far for months.

I guess they just bubble up if they feel like it and wont if they dont in my tank.....

Mine started nice and bubbley, then started looking like an LTA. Recently, I suffered a tank crash, but my 3 RBTAs recovered and have started to look bubbley again.

So from what I can tell, they've only been bubbley in my tank when they were stressed or when recovering from trauma.

same here..i had trouble keeping them bubbled..

I got my RBTA 3 months ago from mail order. It was very bubbly, but also bleached. As the anemone recovered, the tentacles got longer and the bubbles disappeared. It is now the right color and the bubbles are pretty much gone. I really don't mind the lack of bubbles since the anemone looks a lot healthier.

BTW, in your picture, the bubbling tentacles look more transparent than the others.
