RBTA easiest to keep?

I had an odd conversation with a fellow reefer today. I was talking about the anemone I hope to get when I finish up my LED lights this week. He said that the rose bubble tip was easier to keep than any of the other bubble tips. We both agree that the bubble tips are probably the easiest to keep, but I was surprised that a specialized morph would be easier to keep than the wild type. Does anyone else have any information to add?

A red BTA isn't really a specialized morph. It can be wild just like any color variant of bubbletip. Red and green are most commonly found, but you can find various shades inbetween along with orange, and purple. I haven't personally experienced any color being harder/easier than another. More important for hardiness is if it is a captive propagated split vs wild caught. Captive clones are generally easier to get settled in our tanks - assuming a healthy anemone.

This will be my first anemone. I was trying to find something on the easier end to care for. I have a good stable tank with great lights, so I am becoming confident in my abilities keep one. I want a one of the pretty color morps, but didn't want to go for something less hardy for my first try since anemones are relatively difficult to keep anyway.

Just make sure you are getting one from a local reefer, or that it is a known healthy, captive split clone and you will be fine. (as long as you can adequately care for a BTA that is)
