I have had RBTA for over a year now...but I am no expert...picture does not look good...how old is your tank? I don't see any coralline algae on the live rock....is it new? BTAs usually take days or longer to expire.

Hello!! It is in a holding tank as I just got it yesterday...it has a huge hole in the mouth, like a donut, with some brown pieces that intermitantly release from the center. The tank holds some liverock and some inverts...

Anemones do release waste from time to time....and it can look like strands of dark, gray or black strands coming out. However, when it looks like it is melting and its innards are coming out through its mouth it is usually on its way out.
Is the holding tank established? What are the parameters? Salinity should be higher maybe .024 to .025.

The snails in that photo appear unhealthy as well. You should test for ammonia, nitrites, temp, salinity, and nitrates. One dying turbo snail can foul a small volume of water quickly.

Sorry for your loss, stick a fork in that one, expelling waste is one thing but expelling your organs is another.

It does look bad although I have had anemoens come back after looking similare to this one!
