hey guys,

my rbta is at the water line and i havent been able to do a wc for a month now, its really worrying me as hair algae is starting to grow everywhere. Do i have to move him? and if i do how do i move him?

Thanks

just do water change quickly... mine was like that and I did wc anyway.. took me like 15 minutes or so. Make sure you turn off the light when you do it.

definitely turn off the light.. don't want to cook him, but I agree with Elite, 10 - 15 out of water won't kill him, just have everything ready to go and just do it :)

Another way is to make more than your normal volume of change water, and slowly siphon it into the tank and let the excess water overflow. Or you could siphon that out too.

It helps to have the change water at a slightly lower temp than the system... siphon it to the bottom of the tank away from the overflow. You'll get some mixing, but it's supposedly not too bad if you go slow.

i have had a RBTA at the water line for a few water changes. i normally made the bta shrink to let his water out so there is less water weight= less chance of getting torn or hurt.
