RCT is back....sort of.

If this has already been posted I'm sorry I skimmed a few pages and found nothing. I went to the RCT website today and while it says he will NOT be offering any marine angelfishes this year he will be working with and propagating different species. I just really hope he returns to Pomacanthidae some day...

I will continue to wait patiently for RCT to get back in business. I have seen pics of the specimens that came out of RCT and they are well worth that wait.....

considering they sold off all of their brood stock, it will be a while before they can get some breeding pairs again...

well I hope they are doing ornate butterflies or something like that, because they are seriously lacking in the captive bred department

I just want my baby interuptus pair lol... unfortunatly they won't be breeding angel fish in 2010 according to the site =(

I have no knowledge of what is plans are, but if I was going to speculate on what they are I would think he would want to breed something that would be fairly easy in order to generate some income while trying to get the angelfish breeding back on line.

Kind of off topic question, but has anyone ever had success breeding tangs? If so who? If not, why not? Just curious.

I don't believe there are any documented reports of successfully rearing surgeonfishes in captivity. The major problems are that the larvae are extremely small (too small to be fed food items available to average hobbyists) and have a very long pelagic stage. Also, it is hard enough to just get the adults to breed.

I'm hoping that once there are more developments in first foods for pelagic larvae tangs will eventually be raised in captivity.
