re- aquascaping advice

I'm adding a 20 gal frag tank and decided that with plumbing it all together I wanted to move some things around in the DT. Am I going to throw everything off if I remove some rock, 20-30% water change and add about 40 more gallon water volume all at once? When I did my first water change the red slime and other bad things started. So any advice is appreciated.

setup your frag tank and add water. Make sure the water is the same salinity as your DT. Once everything is running together and the water mixed, you can then move stuff around without worrying about anything. It would be just be like a water change, except this time you are not removing any water.

I would either do a smaller water change or hold off for a week or two. Just adding volume would dilute everything the same as a partial water change I think.
