RE: Turbo Snails

I have a 24g nanocube that is functioning perfectly. 2 turbos, six line, cleaner shrimp, 5 bumble bee, 3 nass, 5 hermit. Running perfect, smooth. no issues.

My 29g. All parameters seem correct. I added 3 turbo snails, 5 bumble bee, 5 hermit. 1 Royal Gramma (temporary housing, long story)

Everything is thriving in it, except for the turbo snails. All 3 of them died over a 2 week period. I left them for quite some time with no movement (1 week) and the hermit crabs eventually "cleaned them" Any ideas why the snails would die (which are apparently very hardy) and the rest of the tank would appear to go flawlessly?

Is there a such thing as a bad batch of turbo snails? They all were purchased at the same time.

And for reference, I added everything over a month period with appropriate spacing. Not just a "dump them all in" thing.

I left the lighting on a little longer than I normally would to grow some algae for the turbo snails but they always seemed so lazy. They would go onto the rocks for a while, onto the walls then later in the day they'd be face up and just sit for a long time.

ALl the while, in the other tank they are on a pretty regular schedule of up and down and are very active. Never "resting" in the vulnerable up position.

Any thoughts? I feel like I've taken it pretty slow and gone with a pretty simple setup in the 29g tank. I was surprised on the snails.

Snails are strange that way. I had 5 astreas and 3 died over a two week time frame. The other two are doing great. Go figure, mybe it was there time.

Snails need to have a good supply of food. I also has some die and I think it was because there wasn't enough for them to grase on.

Some die simply cause they fell on their shells and couldn't get back up.
My snails do this, I have to help them whenever i catch it.
