Readding Sand to SPS tank

I recently went to a BB setup in my SPS system and now I'm tired of having to add the extra nutrients and heavy feeding required to keep up with the lack of sand any suggestions on adding sand back to the tank?

Should I use brand new sand or the sand that was taken out of the system the sand has been in buckets of water for 2-3 months.

You need to wash it before you add it back to the tank.

Not to sure if this will work the same way but if you like the look of the BB why not try a remote sand bed.
