Reading for Macroalgae/ Anchoring Ulva

My water chemistry is as follows:

pH: 8.35
Alk: 4
Phos: .25
Nitrates: < 5
SG: 1.025
Temp: 80-82 F (total fluctuation throughout day)

I'm out of reagents for my nitrite test and I can't understand my ammonia test kit. I'll update you with my ammonia ASAP. Note that this pH is only with room lighting, not tank lighting.

But from the results so far, is my water chemistry adequate?


If I'm ready, I'd like to start by adding a mat of Ulva. I'd like to get it from IPSF in their Amphipod Breeding Kit. I'll also get their worm pack with it. How would I start growing Ulva on rock? I'd like to put it between two rocks that are stacked together. Would that work?

If your ammonia and nitrites are 0, you are good to go.

But I haven't ever heard of anyone successfully anchoring Ulva......maybe if you let us know what you're trying to accomplish, we can suggest some other ideas.

Dang. For some reason I thought it was grown on rock.

i believe IPSF floats theirs in the tank. I put some in a fuge that's getting packed with macro now so I can't reall tell how it's doing. However, I did rubberband it to a piece of PVC and stuck it by a rock, it was shortly devoured by my hermits and snails... I guess they were hungry.
