Ready Made Overflow

This should be a fairly easy question. I'm putting up a 90g fish and soft coral tank with a Eshopps RS-300 sump. My task at this point is to select an overflow and drill the tank for it. I'm fairly handy, but I've never had luck with silicone and I don't want to jack up anything, so I don't want to make a weir myself. I'm also looking to make this as easy as possible so I've elected to use a ready made overflow rather than fabricating it myself.

I want it to be a BeanAnimal style, so I've been looking at the Synergy Reef Overflow. I think I'm planning on a fairly slow flow sump, between 5-7 times tank volume, so 450-650 gph or thereabouts. The specs show rates on the 16" version up to 1500gph so it looks like it will be adequate, and able to handle more flow if I decide to later.

Published specs don't tell the whole story though, so I'm seeking input on performance and quietness. At the desired rate of overflow, will this overflow be silent? What rates are you able to achieve with yours? Do you have suggestions for similar setups that you might share? What size piping should I use? I'm thinking 1"

I would get the behind the tank overflow box big enough to handle two 1" drain lines, one as the primary drain and the second to be used as the secondary/emergency drain so you can back up the flow on the primary drain with a gate valve at the bottom of the drain line, which will give you a nice quiet and SAFE overflow.

The bean drain system is the way to go to be guaranteed quiet..
The overflow box should have very little impact on noise..
The drain system is where the potential for the most noise comes from..

Go bean and be happy in silence..

but I don't have that overflow box so I cannot comment on if it creates excessive noise by design.. but I can't think of a reason it would..
