I have rescaped my tank a few times now, usually the corals will become less colorful for about a week or so and recovery quickly. What I usually do is chop the rock under the coral and glue that on the new scape. So I try and do as little damage to the encrusted part of the coral as I can. So far I havent lost a coral yet from a rescape. hope that helps
It probably isnt the best thing to do, as sps love stability and to be left alone. That said, I have done it quite a few times, and I have also never lost a coral from re-aquascaping.
