Reason 103 not to have an octopus

Ouch ... I have always wanted to get an octopus but their short lifespan as well as the difficulty keeping them inside their tanks has discouraged me from it.

I wonder which report is correct here. The first one says
>>>"The octopus apparently tugged on a valve and that allowed hundreds of gallons of water to overflow its tank."<<<
and the second one here
>>>"They believe the octopus, a female known for her curiosity, loosened a tank valve, causing hundreds of thousands of gallons to spill.">>>
says hundreds of thousands of gallons which seems ridiculously high unless they were pumping it straight from the ocean.

Still a better pet than an adult chimp.

From what I've read, cuttlefish are much better suited tank dwellers than octopuses. Although an octopus would be a cool pet, I wouldn't want to keep one unless I was breeding them. They just don't live long enough.

My buddy had one....it had babies...and they die shortly after...some of the babbies lived....but would ink constantly when they got scared....like during tank maintenance...

It's a shame their lifespan is so short. Otherwise, would be worth putting together a dedicated tank/system for one.
