Receding tips

I have been very slowly increasing the whites on my LEDS to get better growth. a couple of my deep water acros (which are on the bottom of the tank 75 gallon tank) have a little receding on the tips. Was wondering if increasing the whites can do this? I had a small drop in ALK from around 8.5 down to 7.7. I corrected the issue.

165 Watt Chinese LEDS I had them at around 20% they are probably around 50% now. It has been at least 6 weeks worth of adjustments to get up to this point. Other corals seem to be enjoying the extra light I am getting a little more growth.

My first reaction would be yes.. whites too bright..
I no longer have leds over my reef but I do have experience with them and I have found that I was never able to make corals happy with whites over 30%...
This is a very general and blanket statement, I know, but it is my experience.
A good experiment would be to reduce them again and see how the corals react..

Thanks for the comments.

Since I increased the whites know I am battling long stringy algae. Its not to bad, but it is getting wrapped around my SPS corals I am having to blow it off ateast once a day. I learned a another lesson that no matter how small an adjustment can be to me it is a big adjustment to the tank. I have turned the whites down and have done a few 5 gallon water changes, with a few more on the horizon.

One note to all this not all corals hated the extra white I was getting some nice color from corals that where not so colorful looking also was getting better growth. I have the new reef breeders V2 coming it will help me with only having the whites on for a couple of hours a day I am sure it will help in a lot of ways.
