Hi I am Needing to know the best way to gravity feed a recirculating protein skimmer also if anyone can provide any pictures as well I have 2 overflows in the tank thanks

Direct feed one of your overflows to the skimmer, By useing a T you can eliminate the bubbles that are a problem when using this method. In other words Vent the line with the tee so it can breath and not have bubble issues, Just make sure it is high enough as to not be able to leak out the vent.

They both have their merits, You can save power by overflow feed and when fine tuned it works fine. All the newer Cones are recirulating models unless you are short on room in your sump. JMO

I was just reading and everyone seems to think you get more *dirty water* pulling it from the overflows and it has more stuff to pull out straight from there so wasnt sure

That's true, Surface water is dirtier and will go directly into the skimmer that way. That's why we surface skim our tanks with overflow boxes to get all the scum and oily residue from the water.

i have one overflow drain split with a valve on both outputs. one goes to the skimmer and one goes to the sump. so i can dial how much flow goes to either and i can also dial it to match the speed of the drain so that there are no bubbles. i would only do this if there are 2 overflows so that if something does happen to clog the valves or something there would still be a failsafe.
