getting back into the hobby. been out of it for about 15 years. looking at recirculating protein skimmers. looking for recommendations. the tank is 100 gal. with roughly a 30 gal sump.

What are you looking to spend? How much space do you have for the skimmer?
Do you need a space saving skimmer with internal pump?
Dc pump or ac pump?
Lots of good skimmers out there now a days.

Low priced:
Aquamaxx work great with a decent pump. They are built a little cheap but work great.

Want something a little high end but priced pretty fair I like the Ultra reef skimmers.

Another good one is ATB top performance but not cheap.

Reef Octopus, Nyos, Tunze also make good solid skimmers.

Most are pretty good as long as you stay away from of the no name stuff sold on eBay and Amazon.
Most skimmers are not over priced like some of the other areas of this hobby so no need to look at some of the cheaper stuff out there.

sorry folks i am moving slow. i did buy a skimmer. reef octo elite 150 s. just put it together last night and it is in my empty sump. just ordered a vector m2 return pump. another week or 2 the plumbing should be complete. cant find tropic eden reef flakes. it appears they are no longer available. then the lights

No need to apologize. As I always say, nothing good happens fast.

I’ve never used tropic Eden products, I’m a Caribsea user.

I think the main or only place is Premium aquatics. I think is is popular and sold out regularly.
