Recomend me a skimmer

I am working on my 300 gallon tank and am looking for some good skimmer recomendations. Total water volume will probably be around 450 gallons. Also what are some advantages and disadvantages of in sump and external skimmers?

Well my roommate runs a 330 gallon tank, with about a 500 gallon total system. He has the ASM G6 skimmer and it rocks. Probably the best bang for the bucks. If you have more money to work with I'd go with the Reeflo ORCA 250, or one of their new line of skimmers. My friend has the 250 on his 300 gallon tank, and it's amazing! It will definately be my next skimmer. IMHO those are the only two skimmers that are good enough for a tank that size that don't cost several thousand dollars.

maybe a couple years ago this would be true. But those skimmer have been over taken.

Even the reeflo is at clearance prices now bc they are coming out with new version.

The tank will be a heavily stocked tank with primarily SPS. Want to keep the cost under $1000.
