recommend LED for nano

I have a 10 gallon nano with a MH and Id like to upgrade to an LED. at the LFS they have Kessler i think theyre called. I inquired and found out the color purple doesnt do so well under those.

Can anyone recommend a nice LED for my 10 gallon reef tank? Id like something that can support most colors and growth and wont break and if something goes wrong I can fix it possibly. I wouldnt mind investing in a nice enough LED light that could support a 20 gallon tank in case I decided to upgrade.

Will there be too much light from an LED setup for a 10 gal?

I want to grow LPS and SPS corals in the tank.

Thanks for the help.

I play around with LEDs for nanos a lot lately, here is my latest little project, its a 10 gallon that is going to be a dwarf seahorse tank with macro algae and some softies. Its no where near complete and still foggy as hell, so keep that in mind:

That particular light is in the experimental stage, it has 4 3 watt LEDs (3 Luxeon Royal Blue LEDs and 1 Luxeon Royal 2700k warm white) and 1 20 watt 420nm emitter in the center.

What I know works out perfect for a 10 gallon SPSS tank is 2 seperate CPU heatsinks with 4 LEDs each. The 3 Luxeon Royal Blue LEDs and 1 Luxeon Royal 2700k warm white per heatsink work perfectly imo (so 8 LEDs total) and with them sitting on the glass like this they dont need optics. If you wanted to mount them higher up you could use whatever combo of height/optics you wanted.

I realize mine look a bit ghetto without a cover but its not hard to make a black plexi box around them.

All these 3 watt LEDs came from stevesleds and the 20w 420nm came from ebay. I am driving it with a 2000mA toshiba laptop power supply with 2 channels for the 3w LEDs (so they run at 1000mA) and the emitter runs in series with them both so it runs at 2000mA.
