Hey,
I'm a clam virgin, but I want to get one. My tank is 240 gal that is 36" deep. I do have a fairly deep sand bed, so anything on the sand will be about 30-32" beneath the tank top. About 8" above that, I have 4x250W HQI (AB 10000, which are supposedly 13K or so color temp) and 4x39W T5 ocean blues.
If I put a clam on the sand, will I have enough light to do a maxima or crocea? Or should I stick with something like a derasa? I've heard varying opinions, so I thought I would check here at "Clam Central."
Also...is putting a clam in the rocks an option? I always see them in the sand, but that could be a pretty obvious solution to the depth issue.
Thanks,
jds
