Recommended hearty coral for clownfish

Hello,
I would like to start by thanking everyone for being such a big help so far! You all have helped me more than you know getting my tank up and running.

I currently have a kenya tree & ultra star polyp that are doing good. I would like to know a good hearty coral I could get for a clownfish. I will have an aqualight elite 48" - 692 watt (2-250 watt, 2-96 watt) by the end of the month, but right now I am borrowing a 130w aqualight I sold to a friend of mine.

Thanks again!

My clownfish pair in my 120 likes a large frogspawn. They were hosting a hard black locline for three years. I was almost given up on them. When I moved my frogspawn to where they hang out, they finally started hosting it.

On the other hand, a single clownfish in my 15 gallon tank likes a toadstool leather very much. This one hosted pompom xenia and a zoanthid colony in the past.

I think they generally like fluffy corals that they can nestle into.

Thanks Tomoko, Which would you recommend for a novice like myself? My wife wants me to get a 1 orange & 1 black clownfish, would make a difference in coral selection?

I don't think they care much about which corals you get. Each one will probably choose its own.

The corals I mentioned are all pretty easy to care for. I think you have no problem keeping any of them. If you want to please your wifey, I'd let her pick a softie of her choice. I guess most women like colorful soft looking corals. Just stay away from non-photosynthetic corals, such as dendronephthea (carnation corals), which are difficult for anyone. Goniopora (LPS) is another difficult one to keep that most of us need to stay away from.

A lot of ladies seem to love pink pompom xenia in my experience. You wife may find a neon green frogspawn very attractive.

I have a pair of GSM clowns that are hosting in a small candy cane. A lot of people think they need to get something specific for them (usually an anemone) but they will host a return pipe, and overflow box, or (horror of horrors) a clump of Xenia!

I'm gathering we should just get a couple of corals we like and see what happens....That sounds easy enough to me!
