Recommended Skimmer

Jeremy, I'm looking at replacing my ASM G4XX protien skimmer. I've had it for two years on my 180gal SPS dominated tank and must say I have never really been happy with it. I'm looking for something a little more updated. I've been looking at quite a few recently mostly the Reef Octopus, particularly the SRO 5000ext and the new POV style skimmers. I also may be upgrading my tank to a 300gal, so I need to keep that in mind.

So what are your recommendations? I'm open to all designs as far as internal or external and I'm not worried about size since not of it will be under a stand.

The 5000 models of the SRO's are too big, you'll be right back in the same boat that you are now with the ASM where you're just not getting much performance out of it. I'd suggest sticking with an 8" body skimmer and nothing bigger. Take a look at the SRO 3000 Internal, BK SuperMarin 200, or the POV DC-2. Going to a 10" body skimmer on that size system will not give you the performance you're looking for.
