recommended skimmer

So, my reef octopus skimmer bit the dust today.

Looking for a good replacement skimmer to order tonight? I'd like to stay with the reef octopus brand or equivalent, but open to suggestions.

Total system volume is about 325 gallons = 265 gallon tank + 60 gallon sump

Bio-load is medium

I would like to go a little over on performance.

OK, let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Ryan

I run almost the same volume and I have a medium heavy bioload with xs3000 octopus I believe. I also have a fuge after it. Do you run a fuge? Its also a means of nutrient exportation and can help others suggest a decent skimmer. My rule of thumb.... if it worked great before and gave u the performance you needed and at least a few years worth of use....fix it or get the same one again.....

I do run a small fuge, but I would rather go bigger on my skimmer this time around. The previous one worked great until today, it never showed any sign of wearing out. Just stopped working at some point today. I tried cleaning it and taking the impeller shaft out and cleaning that too. Oh well. I am going to stay with the Reef Octopus family and order a Reef Octopus SRO-5000INT. It says that it is rated for up to a 500 gallons. Now it just needs to get here......

Any advice for running a reef tank for a few days without a protein skimmer???????

do daily water changes. dose a lil iron in my experience it boosts the vegitations effectiveness to suck up nutrients. cheato explodes when I dose it. How big a tank?

Just get a Reef Octopus internal DC skimmer.

Running bother a DCS300 and Regal 300SSS.

Love them both :)
