Recuring Live Rock?

I had 20 lbs or so of live rock in a tub that I was going to put into a tank I was setting back up. I had been making sure to keep water moving and changed, but was out of town for a few days and my roommate unplugged everything! So now it's smelling awful and I assume the rock is no good. Can I recure it? Other options so the rock can be used again, even if just as base rock?
