Recycle QT

So I lost both the wrasses I was quarantining in my QT. I was treating with cupramine for ich...but also I was treating with prazipro. They were in there for three weeks, then one day the flasher became weak and died. A week later the other, a fairy wrasse, became weak and died. I know the prazi plus cupramine was a bad idea, but they had been in it for weeks. No idea what killed them then. Tank params and copper levels were good.

At any rate, I want to know if I can recycle this tank as a hospital tank? It was a 20 gallon tall and has an aquaclear with biomedia and a sponge for mechanical filtration. It had a separate sponge filter with an airline from a pump a well, a heater, and a small powerhead. What can I recycle and how do I clean it so it will be safe for future fish--not only to remove the copper, but also whatever else strange disease actually killed the fish--or should I just toss the whole thing, tank and all?

Clorox will sterilize it and IIRC muriatic acid will take off the copper (somebody correct me if I'm wrong on that).

Don't put them in together though - do separate, dried-overnight cleanings with the two agents.

I only sterilize and start over if there were a bacteria infection, certainly when it was not sensitive to the antibiotic that I used.

I generally reuse the cycled medium after QT, otherwise.
