Good Day Reefers, I need a some ideas how I can remove some red algae from my green star polyps disc, it has taken over the disc and the polyps seem to be disappearing. Tried pulling it off but it's really stuck on.
Not sure this will work but here goes.
Looking at the disc I'm not sure there are any left. Just dug it out from behind some rocks they fell behind so I hope they are just retracted.
If its red turf algae( which is like a carpet and really hard to remove) i was infested not too long ago, tried a lot of things and what worked like a charm was mexican turbo snails... 6 of them cleaned the whole tank in 2 weeks.
Tried a couple times to type in what I thought might be the url but nothing shows up. I think it is Rhodophyta. The disc fell behind some rock so I thought they were retracted from being handled but the more I look at it I'm not sure there are any left. I can see some of the mat so hopefully they will show up again.
I have 2 orange chestnut snails, 1 black and white striped (zebra?) a couple small hermits and a long spine urchin. They are in a 30 gal. hexagon. Not keeping up with the algae growth. The tank has only been set up since July.
