I have a 180 mixed reef that is about 4 years old. It was an upgrade from a 10 year old 90 I had. Long story short:
Recently I have seen a decline in my hammer colonies. I have a 30-40 head softball size colony and a few smaller 10-20 head frags which have all stopped extending but have not died. It's been that way about 2-3 months. Oddly I also have 2 medium neon green hammers that are fine. About 2 months ago my 7-8 year old red ball sponge began to decline and loose color and body. My fault due to lack of maintenance.
My question; could the red ball release enough toxin to upset this one specific hammer type? water chemistry is all in line and no changes for at least a year. I have pulled the sponge.
Thanks
