Red Bubble Algae?

Salamander

I have a recently found a few red bubble algae in my tank. They're a little flatter on top than green valonia and are a deep burgundy red with faint pinkish striations.

I removed them before thinking of taking pictures. I'll snap a few shots if I see more.

Anyone know what they are or how bad they can be?

They are most likely in the Botryocladia family possibly B. skottsbergii, or B. pseudodichitoma In some tanks they can become a real nuisance. Read this, you'll find info on controls for both red and green BA plus a pic and description of the red BA.
