I hate to say this, but what else? Found them on a nano last night. 2 specimans. I was sick to see how many came off. Coral just showed signs, could not see in tank. Dipped coral with Tropic Marine.

Now I am dealing with FW, I have a few Q's.

1) Signs were just on the nanos so I treated. Do I need treat all
acros?
2) Do they spread like the Monti eating nudi's do?

3) Can they hitch hike on other acros with out affecting them?

4) What else can host them that I could of added to the tank
to have this INFESTATION ?

5) what is the best treatment and procedures?

any input will help.

Thanks Paul

Kevin,

thanks for that thread. I read up on it early this afternoon. It provided some but not all the info I was looking for.

I did a second dip tonight on the nana's that were infested. Not single FW. I am using Tropic Marine Pro-Coral-Cure. I will keep you updated.

What info wasn't in the thread?
They've never been spotted on non-acroporids, but as w/ any infection, you have to assume that the entire contents are infected. Strict quarantine of all acroporids, up to a month, is what I'm moving forward on. As there is an egg and assumed larval stage, it's impossible to ensure the water you transport the frag in, doesn't have babies. You have to QT and treat for the life-cycle of the animal, to completely erradicate it.

The eggs hatch out into baby flat worms. There is no larval stage. As you can see in the picture the babies are hatching out of the darker eggs and are in FW form.

Nope, i got the pic from a friend. That's my theory about the larval stage. I have some pics of them also but not like that.

scrap the eggs off and make sure you get them all

i have been told to ro water dip the coral to kill the flatworm up to a minute

a guy told me this after he got rid of them in his tank with this method

No worries, I was glad to find it when I discovered the FW's on an acro colony. After fnding the FW and eggs on an acro i threw thee entire colony out and have checked the other acros daily for signs of them and, thankfully, have not found any in the last few months. I know tossing an entire colony is not an appealing idea (or impossible if it is encrsuted on a rock in your tank), but to me it was worth it to ensure I got rid of all of the eggs and was not confident that scraping them off would get rid of them all
