Red bugs

Hello,
I am new to keeping sps. I found what I think is red bugs on a new tri-color acro that I bought yesterday. What is the best/fastest/easiest way to rid the coony of these. Should I remove it from the tank immediately? Thanks

Join the club. Found mine last night. Everyone says the Interceptor method works well. Good luck. What a pain, huh?

I tried the dip with lugols iodine and it seemed to work well. I put the coral in a container (1/2 gallon) and put in a few drops of the lugols. It was about a 4 inch colony and there were hundreds of those red bugs at the bottom after about 15 min. Not sure if I got them all but I can't see any now, and the colony is open today.

If the infested colony was in your tank for any amount of time there is a good chance bugs jumped to other acros. IME Interceptor is a easy solution if you don't mind losing a few crabs.

I was told once that a good Same temp RO dip would take care of them? But that might have been for flat worms? I could be wrong? I usually RO dip all my corals. The fresh water kills almost everything except for maybe red bugs. I once dipped a zoo frag I bought and all I did was dip it in the RO three times and about 20 pods came off the frag dead instantly.. Its actually weird how that happens? The killing of the critters that is...

Good luck with your issue though. I hope you can kill em.

Spank.

I dont want to hijack or start another RED BUG thread but I do have a question and hope its OK to post. I put a colony in my aquarium from a friend and noticed it had red bugs in about 5 minutes then pulled it out. I have not noticed any bug on my older colonies should I dip the other colonies or treat the whole aquarium for precation? Thanks in advance..

I think I would wait it out and see if you get them.
