I have made a mistake buying on impulse today. I had picked up a nice size to put in an SPS dominated tank. I know this coral needs a shaded area and realized when I got home that there isn't a shaded spot in my tank!

What is the survival rate of this thing? Should I get rid of it? It's a really nice piece. This is a red soft coral. Much like a Colt.

Might look like a colt coral, but definitely has different requirements. Maybe the folks in this forum can give you some insight. Most wither and die slowly in an environment not suited for their needs.
